Ba Zi calculator for the four pillars

Enter a birth date, an optional time and a place. The chart is calculated on this device. It is a structural sketch for general interest, not a reading and not a prediction.

Adds the longitude correction and the equation of time. This adjusts the hour, and the day if the corrected time crosses 23:00. The year and month still follow the solar terms in standard time.
On by default. The hour pillar then follows the five rats rule. Turn this off to keep 23:00 to 23:59 on the same date.

How these pillars are set

  • Year

The year pillar changes at Li Chun, when the sun's longitude is 315 degrees, not on 1 January.

  • Month

The month pillar changes at the twelve jie solar terms. Those instants are calculated from the sun's longitude, not from a fixed table of dates.

  • Day

The day pillar is counted from a verified reference day. By default the day changes at 23:00.

  • Hour

The hour pillar follows the five rats rule from the day stem. An unknown birth time leaves this pillar blank.

For general interest only. This calculator is not a substitute for a full Ba Zi reading with Golden Lai. It does not store what you type and it does not send it anywhere.
